Picture
Joy and Joe® is excited to announce that our organic stretchy wrap carrier has recently been named the best for newborn by the independent. 13 best baby carriers to transport your little one safely and in style

According to the independent, the carriers were tested with a five-month-old baby who is often happy to be carried.

All the carriers were tested on a 5ft 4in, size 10 female as well as a 6ft, M/L male. The criteria for testing: affordability, style, durability, comfort (for the baby and wearer), adjustability, how clear the instructions were, how easy it was to wear the carrier and most importantly safety.

Our organic baby carrier was rated the best for newborn.

Picture
We are excited to introduce our 2021 brand ambassadors to you.
Before you learn more about each of them, let's talk about what they do...
  • They are NOT paid. It is commonly thought that brand ambassadors are paid, they aren't! They do it because they genuinely love and believe in what they are promoting. Some of our ambassadors might sign up to our affiliate program but this program is open to everyone.
  • However, our ambassadors will receive free slings in exchange they give us their time, platform and enthusiasm.
  • They are asked to post a certain amount per week/day over multiple social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram) these posts have our hashtags so that it is recognised as one of our ambassador posts. Our 2021 ambassador hashtag is  #JJteam21 or #joyandjoeambassador21
  • They occasionally facilitate Instagram Takeovers and Facebook Lives, they are not told what to post/talk about. The topics are chosen by them about things they are passionate about!
  • They get sneak peaks of our latest releases and exclusive behind the scenes info.
What they do not do...
  • They are not sales employees; we don't ask them to hard-sell!
  • They are NOT forced to give us good reviews, if a certain wrap or ring sling doesn't do it for them, they are free to say so!
  • They do not force people into using our brand, they encourage people to try what has worked for them, but they never make people feel bad about not having the same lifestyle as them.
  • They do not lie! Everything they say they believe is true, they are not given a script!
Without further ado, please welcome our new 2021 brand ambassadors. You can click on each of their photos to connect with each of them via instagram.

To celebrate our 10th year brand anniversary, we have commissioned a spectacular one of its kind babywearing artwork. According to the artist, Leke Banwo, this art was inspired by women who inspite of their multiple daily responsibilities have to carry and nurture children simultaneously and effortlessly. This artwork celebrates motherhood and expresses the beauty of motherhood.  Leke said 'I painted the art on a 3ft x 4ft canvas using oil and  acrylics. The painting style is both cubist and impressionist using geometry and geometric forms. I hope that you will all appreciate the efforts invested into the work and its visual content. This artwork is a very technical one of a kind piece  and one of my favourites for this year. Please enjoy the photos that showcase the making of this artwork from start to finish and congratulations to Joy and Joe Ltd on the occassion of their 10th brand anniversary celebration.

When George Floyd cried out for ‘mama’

6/4/2020

When George Floyd cried out for mama

This is not going to be a comfortable discussion, but it has to be done. When George Floyd cried out ‘mama’, something happened.
Picture

You will notice that here at Joy and Joe, we are yet to put out a public statement about George Floyd's inhumane treatment and murder.

Everyone responds to trauma differently and for me, I have been shocked beyond words can even describe. Those who know me personally know that I have been traumatised and crying since I set my eyes on that viral video.

So, for those new to Joy and Joe, my name is Bisi Osundeko, a proud black woman, black mother to Joy and Joseph, founder of Joy and Joe baby slings alongside my husband, Dr Mayor. My husband and I are proud immigrants from Nigeria, Africa.

George’s passing shocked the world, angered the black community in ways that words can hardly describe. It is true that his death also summoned all mothers worldwide but for me, this is something very personal. George’s last words and death traumatised me from deep within because it reminded me of series of racism that I have experienced since emigrating from Africa.

Majority of people here the UK are tolerant and kind to each other, but racism is still very much alive in our society sadly. Let’s not ignore the signs.

Please don’t think that racism is simply about physically hurting black people like what those dangerous ex-officers did to George but racism can be very subtle and easy to ignore. Those microaggressions and jokes about black people are also forms of racism. Like snowflakes, they can have a devastating effect on the mental health of their recipients, the black community over time.

As a black woman, and owner of a black-owned business, I have certainly had to work excruciatingly hard. Not just because my two children are disabled but because I constantly worry that I might lose customers over my ethnicity or identity. My husband has been a witness to my tears and heartache over the years on this.

Racism is the feeling that you get when even your hard-work and expertise is never acknowledged or honoured because of the colour of your skin that you have no control over.

Some of you know that I miscarried my son about two years ago, part of the problem then was that the nurse who spoke to me over the phone when I needed help claimed that she wasn’t convinced that I was truly in labour, she also said that she didn’t understand my accent! Please get enlightened, black mothers are more likely to die at childbirth compared to their white counterparts due to these inequalities that exist in society.

However, I don’t want this to simply be about my feelings because it is so hurtful to have your vulnerabilities out in the open. As a brand, we wholeheartedly condemn the killing of George Floyd and we will never tolerate any form of racism, hate crime or abuse.
Picture
I suggest that you seek out ways of enlightening yourself, family and children about race matters. Take it upon yourself to learn about the historical oppression of black people and be committed to ensuring that you are part of the solution.

At your various places of work or communities, if you ever notice a person of colour being racially profiled, abused or ridiculed, please do not ever look away.

George died because the other officers were accomplices by simply allowing one of their own to take a human life that he cannot create by recklessly sitting on his neck.

I’m also a councillor so I could go on specifying certain things that you can do to see that racism is stamped out of our society for good once and for all, but I want you to make an effort on your own to be part of the solution.

Don’t be colour-blind by saying 'all lives matter'. It’s like saying all houses matter when only one house is clearly on fire. Research the subject 'white privilege' and take it upon yourself to understand your own privilege and how it affects others even in situations when you might not know that your privilege is at play.

As babywearing parents, we are nurturers. I hope that part of nurturing the future will include these important discussions in our homes. Changing your profile photo to black, using the black lives matter hashtags and posting online is fantastic but I ask you, who are you offline? Are you an ally even when nobody is watching?

On a particular day when a group of white children attacked me as I walked to the post office (carrying customer orders) , I cried and cried for the whole day, not just because of the action of these children but because of the onlookers who did absolutely nothing. I also wondered about their parents and the sort of discussions that they have about race in their individual homes.

When another little boy called me a monkey, his mum just looked away embarrassed but what I hoped was for this mum to seize that opportunity to educate her son about diversity, tolerance and respect for others. Don’t let your child grow up thinking that black people truly lived on trees. I have had adults asking me if wild animals roam the streets of Africa.
More recently, I have been called a monkey yet again online and this time, full grown adults have shared these posts. You can see why the enlightenment has to start from you, our nurturers of the future. When your beautiful little one is wrapped up in whatever sling of your choice, whether or not they understand, start talking to them about race issues, no matter how uncomfortable it may sound.

Start somewhere, using the hashtag online is not enough. Action is required now.

I will not make recommendations of books that you should consider getting, so take out the time when you can to research on books that can help you, family or your child understand race issues better. There are also some fantastic videos on YouTube.
This is a resistance; the black community is seriously hurt by these recent events.

As the riots are happening in the USA, whilst we are definitely NOT in support of looting, stealing and violence, we must not be distracted from the crux of the matter, racism. How did we get here in 2020?

Why are we going around in circles when it comes to dealing with racism? Why does the oppression of black people still exist? Now isn’t the time for white people to lecture black people on how you think they should act or how you think they ought to respond to George Floyd, it is a time for you to listen.

George called out to mama; he has summoned all mothers and fathers. As babywearing mothers, fathers and nurturers of our future, are you listening to George's call for mama and the need for racism to be stopped once and for all?

Babywearing art competition winner

Picture
Remember our babywearing icon drawing contest?

We encouraged our Joy and Joe babywearing families to get creative, draw or paint a babywearing art that we can put on our next tote bags, mugs and possibly T-shirts.

Many thanks to every family who entered into our competition. We are pleased to update you that our two finalists are Sam Pickard and Cienna. Our final winner is Sam Pickard. Due to the pandemic and the hand drawn nature of the art work, it has taken us longer than anticipated to get the souvenirs ready.

We are currently working on the design with a view to putting it on our next tote bags, mugs or T-shirts.

Introduction to our 2019 woven wraps

Picture
Hello Joy and Joe families, how have you all been? I can’t believe that it’s taken me this long to properly introduce our newest design and woven wrap releases to you. Well. I’m glad that I have finally gotten round to doing this because my aim was to get this sorted before the end of this year. So can you say a yayyyyy or hallelujah with me!
This new release will be different from our previous wraps releases. With our previous releases, we usually tailor our wraps to size as soon as we weave them. With this latest release, we want to sew the wrap fabrics according to the sizes that you order. This way, we can reduce having some sizes in stock when we could as well have allowed customers to order their preferred sizes or even custom sizes.
Our sizes will then be tailored to the exact sizes that you exactly need. This can be called a bespoke tailoring service and the first of its kind from our brand.
Standard sizes available are sizes 2 to 8 but you request any in-between size that is not listed below and we will price the sizes accordingly for you. To pre-order, click here

Honeycomb
Standard sizes available are sizes 2 to 8.
Honeycomb Hayley
Honeycomb Charissa
Honeycomb Louise

The honeycomb design is our 2019 woven wrap design. The name ‘Honeycomb’ was coined by our current brand ambassadors Hayley, Charissa and Louise. The honeycomb design was designed by our in-house expert weaver. The artistic feature of this unique design is one that can never be found anywhere else in the world because it is one of a kind. When you take a close look at the design, you will need a bit of time to figure out the artistic direction of the design. At first, you might think the design looks like something that you can find on the cardboard spine of historical books in a literature archive or maybe then it looks Moroccan and then you finally think, oh, maybe it actually has honeycomb structures embedded within the skeleton of this complex art. Our weaver has been teaching textile art and design for many years in art institutions in the north of England and he is undoubtedly one of the very talented home-grown textile talents out there. So amidst all the artistic elements in this design is the Yorkshire soul that conceived it. We are so proud to present to you all, this limited edition woven textile of an iconic design that you can easily hang up on your wall as a décor on days that you are not babywearing!
We have 3 colour variations:
Honeycomb Hayley: Mustard variation
Honeycomb Carissa: Mint green variation
Honeycomb Louise: Blood orange variation
Picture
You will also notice some other colours common to the 3 honey comb wraps, they are navy blue, rose pink and yellow
Blend of the yarns: 35% wool 65% cotton.
Finished yet super sturdy and strong enough for carrying older babies. We will like to describe this wrap as a mid-weight wrap but this wrap fits the description of workhorse wrap so we recommend this wrap for experienced babywearers and heavier babies. After your wrap is fully broken in, it can be wrapped by anyone and for lighter babies. This guideline also applies to the mini SMP.

Size 2: £100
Size 3: £115
Size 4: £120
Size 5: £135
Size 6: £150
Size 7: £160

Ring sling: £135

To order any of the above sizes for the honeycombs, please click here. You will be prompted to pay an advance of £50 and shipping fee based on your address. We used recorded delivery to ensure safe delivery of your sling. Before we ship your order (in approximately 10 working days time), we will send you a PayPal invoice for the balance of your sling.

Mini Merseyside SMP
Our 2109 mini SMP woven wrap. At first glance, this wrap looks like a black and white mini SMP but we are pleased to surprise you by revealing that this woven wrap has aubergine yarns embedded within its double weave layers.
The cream side of the Merseyside SMP is undyed natural yarns. The black and the aubergine yarns are intertwined. The jet black in a way that is typical of black yarns has heavily overpowered the aubergine so you won’t easily notice the dark purple hint of aubergine,
Woven and finished in Yorkshire as with our other woven wraps.
Blend of the yarns: 35% wool 65% cotton. Double weave with a broken twill style weaving.
To order any of the sizes for the Merseyside mini SMP, please follow the link that we will provide soon. You will be prompted to pay an advance of £50 and shipping fee based on your address. We used recorded delivery to ensure safe delivery of your sling. Before we ship your order (in approximately 9 working days time), we will send you a PayPal invoice for the balance of your sling.

First 2019 sling release! Welcome the 'Romantic Geometry' collection

1/19/2019

Picture
You enjoyed our 2019 aspirations blog post where we told you about the things that you can expect from us this year. Remember that we mentioned that we were going to re-weave some of our existing designs. So here we go!!! Even though we call these designs our existing designs, they absolutely look fresh because we haven’t woven our geometric patterns for a long time and our double weave benevolence was only woven as a prototype previously.
So if you are already familiar with our trillusion and benevolence designs, we can still assure you this new release is still nothing like you’ve ever seen before.
Picture

The reasons are as follows:
  • Some of the designs were woven on a different scale for example when you look at Trillusion Kaitlyn, the triangles are bigger and bolder compared to our previous trillusion designs.
  • Apart from the black and white Monochrome style trillusion, all the slings in the collection have contrasting sides so each side of the wrap exudes a unique character. This is like having two wraps in one wrap!
  • The colourways have never been woven before
  • Even the colour combinations for the two have never been released
  • The texture is completely different to most of our previous wraps but for you to understand the texture of this current collection, think of the texture of our original benevolence wrap. Ann, one of our 2018 ambassadors will attest to the fact that that wrap has one of the most interesting of textures.
  • The double weave was designed in a way that air is trapped within the two  super soft layers of each sling
  • This collection features lots of firsts for us. For example, our first monochrome trillusion is here! So most of the slings in the collection (with the exception of Benevolence Louise) are ones you’ve never seen before and the wrapping qualities will surprise you
  • These new collection slings are not loomstate so they have been steam finished so minimal or no breaking is needed to get these wraps off to a floppy handle.
  • This time, we have used a luxurious grade of ethically sourced British wool called Extra fine worsted merino wool. Worsted-spun yarns, used to create worsted fabric, are spun from fibres that have been combed, to ensure that the fibres all run the same direction, butt-end to tip, and remain parallel. A short draw is used in spinning worsted fibres (as opposed to a long draw).

As with most of our luxurious woven wraps, this current collection is a limited edition treat for our customers. Woven  and finished in Yorkshire by one of the best British weavers of our time. We intend to sell this current collection via our website shop.
We also have some limited edition blankets and we will releases those after the slings have been released.
Each sling will be available on our website next Saturday 18.00PM GMT
Finally, please meet our first woven sling releases for 2019

Trillusion Kaitlyn:
Design: The design takes the simple triangle and transforms it into a complex visual art with the repetition of the triangles across the wrap to generate an interesting moving illusion. The symmetrical relationship between the self-replicating triangles echoes the beauty of mathematical measurements that allow for the triangles to be recreated with such accuracy on the wrap.
Yarn Colours: Royal blue, Dark Purple, Light purple, red

Blend:  50% Mako cotton 50% Extra fine worsted merino wool
Weave: Traditional double weave
Sizes available: Ring slings (£155), Medium (£175)
Suitability: Suitable for carrying both big and small babies!

A review of our 2018 and our projection for 2019

Talking about festive traditions around this time of year, we sense that our end of the year blog post has now become our own tradition here at the Joy and Joe HQ. We love to be able to look back into each year around the last weeks to the new year and put together a review of how the year has been for us as a brand and family. We then project into the new  year and outline some of the things we aspire for in 2019. Remember our 2017 blog titled 17 interesting facts about our 2017 and 18 things to expect in 2018. The essence of this style of our end of the year blog post is mainly for us to consistently practice reflection and gratitude. Also to help us stay accountable to our vision. You can call this our brand’s vision board.
First, let us review 2018
Picture
We added the SMP stretchy wraps to our patterned bamboo stretchy wrap collection and we designed a prototype of a new floral patterned stretchy design and rainbow stripes.
Picture
We released mini skulls, our SMP design on a smaller artistic scale
Picture
We rose to the level of an Amazon best seller this year! Whoop! Whoop!
Picture
We met lots of you at some fantastic babywearing events like the Sling show Scotland and the midland babywearing convention. Our highlight was meeting some of our beautiful Joy and Joe babies that we have lovingly oooed and aaahed over from our computer screens. Baby Trixie and Baby Yusuf were both such a pleasure to carry. Thank you Lysanne and Gemma. Not to forget that a lot of you bought from our stall, we appreciate you. Photos from these events can be viewed from the individual events pages via our main Facebook page
Picture
We started an additional Facebook group called the Joy and Joe babywearing hub and this was mainly for us to communicate with our customers in a group where there are no member’s buy/sell posts. This way it’ll be easier for those looking for specific answers to questions to find them. Our chatter group is still our main Facebook group. Please click here to join our new babywearing hub group
Picture
We wove some SMP blankets and scarves and we already planning to weave more blankets in designs other than our SMP. We are considering sending one our newest blankets, possibly the benevolence blanket/throw on a tour, if you're interested in testing, please join our testing group

Our benevolence allure was woven out of our aspiration for an affordable high quality woven wrap. We sourced our cotton yarns in wholesale quantities directly from the spinners. Eliminating the need for commercial middle men gave us the rare opportunity of sourcing the benevolence cotton yarns at incredibly affordable prices. We chose to pass this bargain to our dear customers so we hope that this answers the questions for those who are curious about the affordability of our benevolence allure slings. Our higher priced wraps were woven using rarer and more limited quantity yarns sourced from smaller yarn suppliers hence the price difference. Our benevolence ring slings sold out in no time and we are now hoping to have more benevolence wraps converted to ring slings to meet the demand. Shop benevolence allure wraps by clicking here
We enjoyed some fantastic Facebook live videos and ambassador instagram takeovers facilitated by our ambassadors. Thank you so much 2018 brand ambassadors for facilitating some interesting discussions across our social media platforms. A replay of each of these videos can be found on our main Facebook page and YouTube channel
Picture
We improved our way of supporting sling libraries. Remember our low priced sling library pack which consisted of a wrap, ring sling and stretchy wrap (currently sold out). We released more helpful blog post and graphics. Have you seen tutorial videos featuring our brilliant PR/admin manager, Laurna Hislop? Click here to watch some of the videos.
Picture
We welcomed our new brand ambassadors. We are so excited about 2019 but let’s leave that for the other section of this blog post. Please click here to read the blog post that Laurna wrote to introduce our brand ambassadors
Picture
Around this time last year, we hinted you that our brand name might change. After all, we are an eponymous brand. This was our humorous way of hinting you that a sibling to Joy and Joseph was going to be born in 2018. We were hoping to share more details of our good news with you but our angel was too perfect for this earth. Hence, the start of this year 2018 was a very challenging time emotionally for us. We are a joyful brand and family but we also want to let anyone going through baby loss of any kind to understand that they are not alone. Please don’t feel out of place if you feel that you need someone to talk to. We are also here for you. Bisi can be reached via bisi@joyandjoebaby.co.uk
Picture
As a brand and family, we donated to several local and international charities this year (especially small charities) and we did not announce most of our philanthropic work. One of our major charitable initiatives is a spinoff of our Joy and Joe brand, the Joy and Joe special needs parenting community where we raise disability awareness and also support entrepreneurs who are also parent carers. To watch videos of one of our charitable activities, please check out the Joy and Joe family on facebook/instagram and scroll down to the posts where we sent groceries to an orphanage and home for disabled people in West Africa.
Picture
We know that with your support, it can only be upwards and upwards for us. So let’s look into the future together and project into 2019.

Our brand ambassadors and what they do.
Many people are  still are not entirely sure what a brand ambassador is and what they do.
So, lets talk about what they do and what they don't do.

Firstly, a brand ambassador is NOT PAID!
They are not an employee or get any financial commission from talking about and recommending a company.
Secondly, knowing that they are  not employed or getting paid for this role, why would they apply to do it (in their own time) if they didn't like, use or approve of the company? I mean, that's just silly right?
Being a brand ambassador is a way to give back and be encouraged to talk about your favourite brand!

As an ambassador, you are given wraps (yes free wraps!)
You are not expected to pay for it in cash, but more in your time and enthusiasm for the brand. There are simple guidelines that are given which are easy enough to follow. You are not forced to do or say anything you don't agree with. You are asked for your honestly and enthusiasm. You are asked to post pictures of you using your new wraps on social media a couple times a week. You are asked to post on several social media platforms if that's what you use, we all know people follow you in different ways right? So basically you post a picture of you (as you probably do anyway, and us and use certain hashtags too.  You are expected to takeover the company Instagram , sharing your life and how wrapping helps. You are asked to do LIVE Facebook videos, the topics are chosen by you but hopefully benefit other wrappers. Not too hard or pressuring is it? There are a few other asks, but nothing too time consuming.

What are you not asked to, or expected to do as a brand ambassador?
1. You are NOT asked to hard sell! Again, they are not employees or sales people!
2. We are not asked to say "I love this wrap" when in fact, you may not be getting on with it or
it's just really not your style. (But if a wrap has been designed for new wrappers to learn, we don't expect you to try do every fancy finish and advanced carries with it. Think about how it was designed, how it feels, go back to basics.)
3. You are not expected to push people into buying or trying from the company. You wouldn't recommend on a post that someone MUST try x,y or z because you say it's the bees knees! But we do expect you to promote the brand over others in your time as ambassador.
5. And finally, you are NOT asked to say anything about the wrap or company that you do not agree with! We encourage feedback from our ambassadors, they also get the chance to chat about new designs, see behind the scenes and learn more about weaving.

So, being an ambassador is simple, you like the company, you are happy to chat about it to others. You're not going to tell your friend to buy some chocolate if you don't like it yourself right?

So lets meet the new team for 2019!

Please give them a warm welcome, you will be seeing a lot more of them in the new year! x

Overlapping royal blue feathers floating on top of our ombre multicolour (Cerise, golden yellow and rose gold) warp.
This is first multicolour feathers. A sequel to our 2016/17 fluffy shade of feathers design.
The Dimana feathers wrap is a re-creation of our original 2015 fluffy shade of feathers design. Here’s more about the inspiration behind our fluffy shade of feathers design: Inspired by a beautiful Alexander McQueen’s dress worn by FKA Twigs on the red carpet, we created the FLUFFY SHADES OF FEATHERS wrap design with our own personal twist on the iconic design.

A close look at this design reveals the subtle layering of the feathers in a way that mirrors the natural arrangement of scales on a fish. Feathers are without doubt one of nature’s wonders, having evolved from scales, they can be found in birds around us.

We admire how incredibly strong and flexible feathers are and the role they play in supporting the movement of various species. In birds, feathers aid both lift and forward movement. Therefore, adopting this theme of movement from feathers, our wrap features overlapping feathers created using a mix of two weaves, one weave is deliberately more textured than the other to improve the adaptability and movement that the wrap allows. For extra charm, the edges of the wrap have also been softened in order to support a more realistic feather-like feel.

Our wrap design adopts a two colour shading technique, which adds rhythm and a calming contrast to the design. The contrast results in a well spaced out pattern across the wrap. Feather and scales are naturally protective covering for birds and fishes respectively and we love that our design encapsulates the protective and loving covering that parents wrap their children with.

In this new design and the others, we love that we are able to utilize our wide scientific knowledge of zoology fused with our playful penchant for art to create wraps that truly celebrate the protective and caring characteristics of a mother.

Carrot orange colored cartography swirls floating on top of our multicolour black/yellow/cerise warp. The Mariana cartostyle is a sequel to our original cartostyle design. Here’s a bit more about our cartostyle design: Cartostyle is our cartography inspired design. We wanted to bring in unique and quirky designs from our nostalgic experiences in scientific studies which included geographical sciences. Geography isn't complete without the use of maps and we found the abstract and fluid look of contours very intriguing that you can stare at it for hours in wonder.
You can even liken them to naturally occurring pattern in our palms etc. Contour lines  are used in different aspects of cartography and you can see them on our weather maps and maps depicting topographical landscapes.
We stretched the contours further to create this amazingly mesmerizing fluidity that impresses every artistic mind.

Welcome to our 2nd Mini collection for 2018

Please scroll further down to enjoy our new action photos by Simon Jolly photography and you will also find the dates of our 'draw to buy' below.
It has been a few months now since we released our new and affordable benevolence allure woven wraps and ring slings. Before our benevolence allure was our mini skulls collection which were part of our high end collection. Lots of our customers have been asking for more mini skulls wraps so we've been working on these simultaneously with our SMP bamboo stretchy. This collection should be our last woven wrap release before the big summer holiday!
Picture
When we released our first mini skull collection earlier this year, we were pleased to see that you all loved the wraps within that collection. Our mini skulls were borne out of the need to creatively experiment with the design scale of the skulls within our SMP design.
Our mini skulls were part of our limited edition slings so we are certainly not replicating the exact colourways that we previously released as yet. We have now come up with another set of mini skulls in newer colourways.
As you can see from our photos, we also played with our maxi roses  and winged dreams. We now have mini-roses and mini-winged dreams respectively. Perhaps 2018 is the year of the mini designs! Well, let’s not conclude as yet because we still have approximately 6 months to go for 2018.
Our new collection has all the unique qualities of our original double weave that you all loved. They are bold, well outlined, super strong, thick 'workhorse' sort of wraps for experienced babywearers. However, like many of you tell us, our wraps soften up or should we say break in really nicely especially when you actually wear them. The heavy weights in this special collection are great for carrying bigger babies  and when they’re fully broken in, they’ll be malleable enough for carrying smaller babies. Our woven wraps are built to last and are best enjoyed when they are worn a lot more often.
If you’re completely new to our original weaves, please join our closed group on Facebook and check our previous posts where some of our antique, original weaves were showcased. Our original weaves are more than 'half a decade' old and when you see most of these wraps today, they still look as good as new. That’s because of the unique quality of our weave structures and weaving style. Please note that wraps in this collection as with our previous high end wraps will be presented with our white magnetic closure gift boxes so this is your perfect gift item!

Without further ado, please meet our 'mini but mighty' woven wrap collection:

  2. Francesca winged dreams
  3. Inverness mini skulls
  4. Scott mini skull
  5. Sofia mini skulls

MEGAN WINGED DREAMS

Picture
Megan winged dream is our first winged dream woven wrap for 2018. If we simply call this design a butterfly design, this can be a disservice to the intricate details woven into this design. Well, we wove some winged dream designs last year and since then, we’ve been looking forward to trying our hands on new colours for this design. The inspiration for the winged dream design came from a day when Bisi (Joy and Joe founder) got lost in meditation about the beauty of transformation.  She was at the reception area in Joy's school and a quote on school wall got her thinking deeply. She can remember that feeling of elation whenever she looks into the future knowing that children especially those who have had very difficult beginnings will hopefully one day outgrow their difficulties no matter how long it takes.
Metamorphism can be slow but the beauty therein ought to celebrated. In this design, you will see a rose flower metamorphosing into a butterfly in a very gentle, quirky and impressive artistic interpretation of this well known scientific concept of metamorphosis.

FRANCESCA MINI ROSES

Picture
You’ve seen the maxi-roses so now it is time for you to enjoy the mini roses. We thought that it’ll be nice to tweak the design a little bit to creatively align with our mini skulls. Our maxi-roses wraps have this grand, elegant and artistically abstract floral appearance and we promise you that our mini roses will not disappoint either. With the maxi-roses, the rose petals are huge and somewhat artistically abstract but with our mini roses, you can easily see that the design layout is that of a rose flower viewed from the top. If you have any eye for art, you will appreciate the regal nature of this floral pattern.

INVERNESS MINI SKULLS

Picture
The Inverness mini skull is our very first multi-colour mini SMP and no, it is not a rainbow! (Watch this space! You just never know, a rainbow SMP might well be in the horizon).
Do you know the reason for the name Inverness? One of our biggest SMP fans resides there. You can guess her name!
You've seen this happen to our beautiful feathers pattern and connected. These two designs have undergone some sort of textile makeover. Its 2018 and we think it is the SMP's turn for its own makeover. How did we decide on the SMP?
Last year at a Scottish babywearing event, we had an interesting conversation with a creative mum who is now one of our brand ambassadors and she asked if we have ever considered weaving our popular SMP pattern on a smaller scale in terms of the size of the skulls.
We've have had this in mind for a while so when this lovely mum chatted with us about this; we knew it was time for us to creatively disrupt the SMP pattern haha! That opportunity came when we started planning to weave our custom blankets / throws. We started by tweaking the design and the size of each of the skulls was reduced. The pattern repeat was also altered as well. The idea of reducing the skull size is to give a whole new outlook to the beloved SMP design. When you wear a typical SMP wrap, approx. two or three skulls can fill up a chest pass so with our reduced skull pattern, you get more skulls within a certain area of your wrap. The whole idea is that you can immediately tell that it is an SMP wrap from the first glance. For comparison between our original  SMP design and our SMP mini, please click here.
