However, please note that our weaving projects can take up to 6 months to be completed. However, the sooner we get all these information that you will supply, the quicker things will move on.

Here is a simple explanation of how it works. For every woven wrap or ring sling ordered by a member of your sling library or babywearing group, 10 points is given to your library/group and your member will also get a 10% discount on his/her order. This is a two-way incentive. Your member gets 10% discount and your sling library also gets 10 points. Your library/group can accrue their point until it reaches 100 points and they will automatically get a woven wrap from our latest innocence collection.


An email will be sent to the library/group/consultant to notify them of their points scored when their code is used on our website (at the end of every week). That way you will know how much you have accrued in real-time.

A. Joy and Joe believes that Sling library, babywearing groups, babywearing consultants are playing an active role in helping families and spreading the joys of babywearing. We are excited to introduce our new woven wrap designs to you. Over the coming weeks and months, in addition to the release of our upcoming Emerald Fountain of love (green FOL), you will be seeing some spanking new Joy&Joe woven wraps.
In case you missed this news from our previous posts, a weaving loom has now been set aside dedicated to the weaving of our woven wraps of course here in the United Kingdom so you can expect superior quality topped with our unique and fun designs.
For these new designs, affordability meets functionality so we will be releasing wraps that will fall into our innocence collection. Our innocence collection is the lower end range of our woven wraps. Lower in terms of pricing and not lower in terms of quality. We have worked really hard to retain our  high quality at an affordable price for you to enjoy. 
Our high end collection, the signature collection is different from our innocence collection in that the wraps in that collection (FOL and new SMPs) have received extra post weaving treatment and they come with our luxury wooden packaging set which includes our customization service and new boho babywearing bags.
With our innocence collection, the wraps will be presented in our thick canvas taper bags, white cardboard boxes and we will endeavor to match bags with your wraps this time. Our new designs have something in common, they have our initials 'JJ' intricately woven into each design randomly.

1: Fluffy shades of feathers 
Inspired by a beautiful Alexander McQueen’s dress worn by FKA Twigs on the red carpet, we created the FLUFFY SHADES OF FEATHERS wrap design with our own personal twist on the iconic design.

A close look at this design reveals the subtle layering of the feathers in a way that mirrors the natural arrangement of scales on a fish. Feathers are without doubt one of nature’s wonders, having evolved from scales, they can be found in birds around us.

We admire how incredibly strong and flexible feathers are and the role they play in supporting the movement of various species. In birds, feathers aid both lift and forward movement. Therefore, adopting this theme of movement from feathers, our wrap features overlapping feathers created using a mix of two weaves, one weave is deliberately more textured than the other to improve the adaptability and movement that the wrap allows. For extra charm, the edges of the wrap have also been softened in order to support a more realistic featherlike feel.

Our wrap design adopts a two colour shading technique, which adds rhythm and a calming contrast to the design. The contrast results in a well spaced out pattern across the wrap. Feather and scales are naturally protective covering for birds and fishes respectively and we love that our design encapsulates the protective and loving covering that parents wrap their children with. 

In this new design and the others, we love that we are able to utilize our wide scientific knowledge of zoology fused with our playful penchant for art to create wraps that truly celebrate the protective and caring characteristics of a mother.

2: Trillusion: Revealing our Tri-illusion is a thrilling moment for us, this design took us back to our love of mathematical theorems like the Pythagoras. We have been asked several times to release designs based on our scientific backgrounds and we are so pleased to be able to work with our talented textile designer on this particular design.

The design takes the simple triangle and transforms it into a complex visual object with the repetition of the triangles across the wrap to generate an interesting moving illusion. The symmetrical relationship between the self-replicating triangles echoes the beauty of mathematical measurements that allow for the triangles to be recreated with such accuracy on the wrap.

Most importantly, we hope this design will lead to educative conversations in your home surrounding shape and the elegance of mathematics.

3. Metric Simplicity The Metric simplicity design stems right out of our immediate environment, as wrap enthusiasts, tapes and measurement are a part of our daily creative process and this design takes a piece of our environment and conveys it to you, our loyal customers.

As mothers, measuring tapes find a place in our life at one point or another; it could be the measurement of our pregnant bellies before birth or the continuous measurements of children’s height and weight to keep an eye on how quickly they are growing. These measurements form the intimate details of the precious moments you have with your child.

Therefore, with the metric design, we want to recall your encounters with the measuring tape and how that has aided your connection with the child. We aim to cultivate these precious experiences further with our Metric Simplicity wrap.

Pulls happen when sharp objects such as long finger nails, jewelries or any other object around you pick the yarns on your woven wrap. The list is actually endless in terms of how pulls can happen. We observed that some people are worried about the safety of use of their woven wrap when a pull occurs. A woven cloth is created by the interlacing of series of yarn threads according to the style of structure required so the yarns are not glued into the place but interlaced so pulls can occur. The tighter the weave, the less prone they will be to pulls. You will find that our past SMPs are less prone to pulls but the downside to them is that their weave being tighter needed more breaking in. 

We want you to enjoy your woven wraps so we have created a looser weave as seen in our FOL and new SMP that will not need any inch of breaking in. We understand that loose weaves are generally prone to pulls especially if care is not taken so we've prepared for this by doubling up the structure of our weave so all our weaves are double/bonded weaves. So think of our double weaves as a weave structure with extra backing. We have also decreased the length of each floating yarn and adjusted the picks of our weave structure to ensure that when a pull occurs, they will not spread to other parts of the wrap easily. We have also added a complex structure where there are stitches at several intervals in your cloth. However, despite all we've put in place if a sharp nail picks your wrap, a pull is likely to happen because the movement of the yarns are essentially part of what makes your wrap a woven cloth.

So many processes have been put in place to produce what you have as your woven wrap sling so a pull is not enough to damage your wrap. We now source our yarns directly from the spinners so that we have control over the exact strength, quality and weight of our yarns. The loom dedicated to weaving our woven wraps is not used for weaving any other style of cloth so this ensures that the exact calibrations needed to produce a carrying cloth with the right tensile strength is adhered to across all our wraps irrespective of the design. Our weavers themselves are one of the very best in the United Kingdom. They have a worldwide reputation for weaving the finest quality English cloth. Hence, they have gained a global standing as a symbol of perpetual British quality.  We are proud to work with our team of textile experts. They have years of experience in the weaving of fine and intricate fabrics. They are committed to quality control, in each weaving process. The entire weaving process from warping to the actual weaving is done in-house and the entire process is carefully monitored via frequent built-in checks. The finishing of our wraps is done in Yorkshire where an environmentally safe finishing process uses pure steam only, employing no chemical additives. In addition, rigorous tests for fabric strength, pilling and fire retardancy are carried in the company's laboratory.

Our woven wraps combines great strength with a lightness of weight (despite being a double cloth), and is woven in such a manner as to render it porous, making it both cool and pleasant to wear.
They are woven in such a way that air can pass freely, facilitating ventilation and ensuring comfort in the warmer climates. The porous nature of this range provides an outlet for heat to be wicked off from the body. The quality of our wraps makes them even suitable for wearing all year round giving our signature and innocence collection an unmistakable touch of luxurious elegance woven in comfort.

The complexity of the structure of our weave and all that we've put in place ensures that pulls cannot and never impact on the integrity of the weave structure. It would take a massive damage like a large puncture cutting though the weight bearing section of your wrap for your wrap to be considered unsafe to wear for babywearing. The fact that our newest weaves are super soft doesn't means that they are fragile in any way. We particularly invested our resources into hiring the expert textile technicians to develop this weave alongside our own years of baby wrap retail experience and babywearing consultancy knowledge. 

Well, now that you know how more about pulls and that they do not make a wrap unsafe to use. How about how to fix them? Here's our tips:

• If your pull is a very little one, you should simply give your wrap a good wash and steam iron. Washing relaxes the weave and the small pull will settle back into its rightful position
  

• If your pull is a long one, you can fix it by using a blunt needle to re-set the yarn back into its position. Now some weaves are more complex than the other often depending on the design. However, if you go to well illuminated area that will allow you trace the rest of the yarn, you can simply use a blunt needle to reset it as shown in the video below. If you use a sharp needle, the chances that you will create more pulls are high. So when trying to trace the yarn, pull gently so that you will not create new pulls. You will notice that the pull will need fixing only on one side, this is because our wraps are double woven, they use up more yarns so the advantage is that a pull no matter how long in length will not affect the other side of the exact position. If you have a pull in your Joy&Joe wrap, place your hand where it is and check the other side to see what we are saying.
  

• So if your pull is a really long one, now it will take a longer time to fix the pull so you can simply snip the pull carefully with a pair of scissors and tie the ends of it to create a faux weavers knot. That way you'll be rest assured that the yarn is intact. Remember that the nature of our weave ensure that the fabric will not fray anyway .
  

Our advice is that you shouldn't worry too much about pulls especially after you've fixed them because your wrap need to be worn, washed and used for the fibres to get more and more settled. So putting your wrap away after noticing a pull will only rob you of the happiness you can derive from enjoying this amazing weave that we've taken our time to create for you and your little one.
