We are happy to announce that Joy and Joe baby® has won the first prize in the 2015 venture further competition (business category). Dr. Olumayowa, the co-founder of Joy&Joe and a recent PhD graduate of the University of Manchester (Faculty of Life Sciences) entered into the competition alongside 65 other fantastic businesses. According to Lynn Sheppard, Director of the Manchester Enterprise Centre: ''The University of Manchester's annual Venture further awards are a celebration of the entrepreneurial talent of the students from across the university and demonstrates the importance and value of creativity, entrepreneurship and innovation throughout our student and graduate community. The competition is now in its 10th year and provides an opportunity for students and recent alumni who are serious about starting a business to have the support and encouragement to really make it happen; it has helped to launch many successful new ventures and careers. This year's winners will receive prize money totalling £50,000 and will have the added benefit of support from groups across the university and its wider networks''(culled from the Awards dinner programme 2015)
The competition director is Dr. Martin Henery and he added that: ''The establishment of four categories has enabled us to recognise and reward a greater number of students and graduates who in their very distinct ways are striving to make a positive impact on the world around them'' (culled from the Awards dinner programme 2015) The sponsors of this year's competition are CMspi, Manchester Academic Health Science Center, Manchester science partnership and NatWest. We would like to congratulate the 3 other category winners ( Perfocal (Qiuhao Xu), Tram (Erol Chioasca), In your own words (Jenny Berry) and all the finalists. For us at Joy and Joe Limited, we are more determined to work even harder to further promote babywearing to a wider audience, to create more beautiful and comfortable wraps for our worldwide customers to enjoy and to further encourage the rejuvenation of the British textile weaving industry through our industrial collaborations. We would like to thank Anne Crook and Rebecca Fougler, lovely babywearing mothers who took out time to join us during the filming of the video clip featured during the award ceremony. We dedicate this award to our lovely customers and to our two special children (Joy and Joseph) who inspire us daily.
